Eastern sniper and the choice of Tarot card IP: 209.240.198.63 Posted on October 11, 2002 at 09:13:54 PM by Arachne
Naturally, whenever a criminal uses a Tarot card as part of his crime, psychics pay close attention. So much of what we do and the tools we use are already subject to much misinterpretation, so we let out a collective "groan" and attempt to explain what we can.You have probably already read, in the papers, that there is a sniper(s) shooting people at random in Washington DC and Virginia. The fact that he (they) left a Tarot Card, labled "Death" in some decks , along with the words " Dear Mr. Policeman, I am God", is causing a stir. Psychics have rushed to assure people that the shooter obviously does not understand the Tarot Deck, or the meaning of the cards, or he would not have chosen that card. It does not really mean death, it speaks of renewal, spring from winter, etc.As a mental health professional I support these statements. He obviously does not understand the deck. But I think the real message is in the fact that the card was left to convey the message that he THOUGHT (however mistaken) that the card meant. If the shooter left the death card he intended to say he was death, and God, apparently (in his mind) one in the same. My feeling is that he is angry, and feeling powerless. Probably this was triggered by the death of someone close to him, and it would be a death that he would blame God for.He is not targeting any one type, age, sex. He is just killing people. Doesn't matter who. He is hurting, so should they. It is also a way to shake his fist at God. He is killing innocents, the very people God is supposed to care about and protect. He is proving to himself that God does not care. He is willing to force God's hand. He wants to be stopped so he can believe there is some justice, and that God does care.Once upon a time he must have believed very strongly in God's mercy, or he wouldn't be so angry now. I think his world has been turned upside down and he is very sick. The person with him is probably not helping this attitude and they are probably both high on drugs. This is my opinion, my guestimate. What are your opinions?Arachne
