Subject: " PEOPLE'S REVOLUTION IN GEORGIA IS A MODEL FOR
SIERRA LEONE."
When a government betrayed the conscience of a nation, and turned
against the very people its supposed to serve, that government is
only value for onething, not for the people, but for the dustbin of
history where its really belongs. This rule applies to all
governments and peoples of the world.
On November 23rd. 2003, the masses of the people of Georgia ( in
show of their anger against the deceptive, ruinous and life-
threatening policy of the regime in Tbilisi) organised and mobilised
in their thousands and marched into their streets to demand their
freedom and dignity which were bartered for opulence and immorality
by the Eduard Shevardnadzer's despotism. The freedom-loving mases
occupied their cherished institutions of governance in the Capital
in their efforts to protect them further from deterioration under
Shevardnadzer's despotism, forcing the departure of the boot-
licking, disgraced, reactionary government.
For us, in the Sierra Leone People's Democratic League (PDL), we
have been following the political events in Georgia in the last few
days, and wish to salute the resolute, courage and steadfastness of
the people of Georgia in their victorious struggle for freedom and
dignity. It is our view that, the collapse of the Eduard
Shevadnadzer's despotism in Georgia further reinforsed our position
that, power belongs to the people, and that in a free and democratic
society its the people who are the Authority. Its also teaches all
despots that no political Party government is greater than the
people, and that when the people say enough is enogh, and decide to
free themselves against any evil leadership, no force on earth can
stop that wind.
In Sierra Leone, the PDL had demanded for the resignation from
power, the so-called S.L.P.P. ( Sierra Leone People's Party )
government led by Mr. Tejan Kabbah in Freetown. And this legitimate
demand has not been yielded to.
Today, we, of the PDL hereby declare the coming year 2004 as the
year of freedom and dignity for the people of Sierra Leone. A year
through which the people of Sierra Leone would be left with no
alternative but to photostat copy the 23rd. November, 2003 Georgian
people's revolution in Sierra Leone as the only peaceful and non-
violent action to supervise the departure of the disgraced regime in
Freetown.
The Sierra Leone People's Democratic League (PDL) would be on the
forefront to politically educate, conscientise, organise and
mobilise the people to take to the streets peacefully and in non-
violent action to protect their country's institutions of governance
from further deterioration under the Tejan Kabbah despotism. The aim
of the planned 2004 action shall be the overthrown of Sierra Leone's
political cancer, as well as the restoration of the freedom and
dignity of the Sierra Leonean people.
Our slogans on that time shall be:
1. Corruption e-do-so!
2. No more foreign hegemony!
3. No more tribalism!
4. No more mafia rule virus!
5. No more poverty!
6. No more attacks on Muslims in the country!
7. No more narcotic drug trafficking!
By this statement, we are confident that our friends in Europe and
the United States will at this point in time not allow the forces of
evil doers to mislead them again about the truth of the situation in
Sierra Leone, but on the contrary, they should try at least to
exhibit understanding of the horrible living conditions of the
ordinary Sierra Leonean person today, under the Tejan Kabbah
despotism in Freetown. Our foreign friends know that Sierra Leone
has currently been rated by the United Nations as the pooorest and
country with the highest illiterate rate on earth. A case of misery
in the midst of plenty.
We want particularly, the Labour government of Prime Minister Tony
Blair in London, the Bush Administration in Washington and UN
Secretary-General Kofi Anan in New York to understand one simple
truth, that is: " the Tejan Kabbah's despotism they try to prop and
worship as demi-god is evil to all of Africa and the world. Our
friends must also understand that apart from the fact that there is
nothing like freedom, or democracy or political stability in Sierra
Leone today, the Tejan Kabbah's despotism stands guilty of the
following indictments and charges:
1. Undermining Sierra Leone's national sovereignty, territorial
integrity and self-determination.
2. Pawning Sierra Leone's freedom and dignity to foreign criminal
adventurers.
3. Subverting the Constitution of the Republic of Sierra Leone, and
molesting the country's instituions such as parliament, the
judiciary, chieftaincy, etc.
4. Attempting to import the US imperialist led anti-Islamic campaign
into Sierra Leone, by labelling to the Bush Administration in
Washington and Sharon's zionist government in Israel that Muslims in
Sierra Leone are financing the activities of the al-qaeda and
Hizbollah groups, through proceeds from the sale of the Sierra
Leonean diamonds. An attempt which would have turned by now
President Bush's anti-Islamic bombs, missiles, tanks, war planes and
bullets against the Muslim population in the country.
5. Sowing the seeds of tribal hatred in the country.
6. Betraying the conscience of the Sierra Leonean nation and
introducing mafia rule tactics in the country's body polity.
7. Tainting Sierra Leone's image abroad by engaging in immoral
activities such as narcotis drug trafficking, smuggling of the
country's minerals, money laundering, dealing with prostitutes
during state visits overseas, and lieing to the international
community about the situation in the country.
The days of Mr. Tejan Kabbah's despotism are numbered. We call
Sierra Leoneans of all walks of life, at home and the diaspora to
join now the path of freedom and dignity with the PDL, and never to
follow the path of destruction and human indignities championed by
Tejan Kabbah and co.
God save Sierra Leone!
