Before AV-8B there was a plan to simply rewing GR3s and FRS1s with a bigger (metal) wing with inboard outriggers. One drawing I have seen had a Sea Harrier nose on a GR1/3 plus wingtip sidewinders/ Looked very nice and would have been faster than AV8B and GR5. Never happened cos of politics and to be fair the MDD wing was very special
