I generally don't use any flash when photographing birds mainly because of all the controversy over owls and flashes this winter. I was so far away from that bittern I can't imagine a flash being of any value.
The term "flash extender" means nothing to me but I'd like to know what it does mean. I am always interested in learning a new trick or two.
