Golden Plains

The haven of dandelions, roses, and daises, there would be no better description of Golden Plains than a touch of gold. It’s as if the fabled King Midas flew down, caressing every flower and leaf. The sun, also a bright gold high in the sky, rains down little drops of more gold, sprinkling it’s magic upon everything within this gemstone of a land.

This land is closed. It is no longer habitable.

bricks of my defenses scattered on the ground

Texas tried to ignore the fact that Esca was drifting away with time, but every look her passed over her showed him how vain such an attempt truly was. The black mare was wasting away before his very eyes, and the bay stallion could do nothing to stop it. He had never had any experience with sickness, it didn’t seem to affect him, and the normal cuts and bruises he received were miraculously healed in seconds, thanks to his immortality. The foal inside Esca that he had sired seemed to be the only thing keeping his friend alive, and as nervous as he had been about becoming a father again, he knew that it was the one thing he had done that had extended Esca’s life. He felt greedy about keeping her here, with him, when her body so obviously wanted to leave.

In response to Escaflowne’s introduction, Texas nodded, then spoke. “Hello.” If this was the stallion that had raised Escaflowne, then he had risen a very large notch in Texas’ good books. Not that it was very hard to do that, he was after all, a generally a social kind of guy. The hard thing was getting back in Texas’ good books after being kicked. Out. But anyway, on to happier things.

Esca had spoken of her other children only a few times, so Texas didn’t know much about them, and if the black mare didn’t tell him, he wouldn’t intrude and ask. When the grey stallion addressed Texas, he nodded again “And you.” Hesitating slightly, Texas made to back away, leaving the other pair to talk if they so desired. He shot a questioning look at Esca, waiting for approval.
