Carden Alvar Nature Board by Bob BowlesLoon(s) and others in Mitchell Lake

Before noon today there was a common loon in Mitchell Lake in the canal channel south of 48. A few minutes later another(?) was visible to the north of 48, seen from the little park at the foot of the big bridge. Still lots of Canada Geese, plus a bufflehead, a pair of common mergansers, and a lot of gulls too far away to ID. An osprey snapped off a branch from one of the trees in the park and flew with it onto the nest at the causeway (Hartley Road) leading off the big bridge.
