well...
its not the 1st time 2 bad teams have squared off against each other in an Egg Bowl.
Someone had to lose, and I think State just wanted it worse.
But I think the Rebels will be improved next year, whereas State probably will not.
All the same... Coach O is a pompas ass for his statements after the game saying that an Egg Bowl victory is nice, but its not the Sugar Bowl, where he thinks he needs to be.
1st, he's now 1-1 vs State. If he can win next year I'll agree they've taken a 1st step. I think Ole Miss fell far short of being bowl eligible this year, and just barely beat a bad team to finish another unsuccessful campaign.
Ogeron has his work cut out for him just to get the program back to the Independence Bowl again.
Sugar Bowls were once reserved for SEC champions before the BCS ruined it.
Ole Miss will not be vying for any SEC titles in the immediate future anyhow, so its really a moot point.
Coach O would be well advised to just shutup, and enjoy the win, and not try to sell it for anything less than what it is.
I applaud him for wanting to move on to bigger and better things, but I still think Ole Miss will have its hands full against the likes of your Mississippi State's and Kentucky's, Wake Forest's, etc of the world.
Just try to get bowl eligible before you try to conquer college football.
