how named?

How and why was this jet named a "harrier?" After the dog breed or after the hawk? The hawk is usually a low-flying one and seems to bear no resemblance to this jet? After a rabbit-hunting hound? Or did someone somewhere just think it was an interesting name for this new-style jet.
