Planting a new tree in Anglesey IP: 82.110.109.212 Posted on June 13, 2007 at 06:14:02 PM by Ria
Hi - totally novice gardener here from Anglesey, North Wales seeking advice! I bought a dwarf BI Apple Tree yesterday on impulse having been told by the Garden Centre that a dwarf BI wouldn't grow that big. I have a tiny backyard with a lawned area in it of around 10x6 feet! I have 14 pots and 7 baskets. There was no mention of pollination of the tree at the time I bought it (and I didn't ask) and now, having been on this site I'm not sure I can actually grow the tree. I live in a row of terraced cottages and am not aware of any of my neighbours having apple trees - does this mean that I'll have to buy another tree to pollinate it? If so, does anyone out there know what type and - do you think there's enough room for two trees in such a tiny area? If not, I shall have to return the tree and possibly never taste a Bardsey Apple! I'd appreciate any advice as I've only just learnt how to grow strawberries let alone a whole tree! Replies:
