Hi Ian - thanks for replying! The label didn't actually say anything about the tree or how to plant it except that it was a dwarf - just the history of the Island and how the tree was found - which was what attracted me to it in the first place. I shall have a wander round the village tonight and see if anyone has an apple tree. My colleagues here at work, bless them, keep telling me to Plant it and See! I bought some bonemeal yesterday after reading somewhere I needed some so I was hoping to try and plant it tonight or over the weekend on my lawned bit. There are a few apples growing on it already - little and green - but I also read that you should pick the first crop off the first year. Is that true? I'm actually at work at the moment(!) so I can't give you a call but I've taken your number down and shall ring you. I'm very excited about this - never had a rose in my backyard let alone a tree until a couple of months ago. Someone else here suggested getting a tiny apple tree and keeping it in a pot in my backyard if I can't see any apple trees in the village. Never knew it was all so complex........
