Golden Plains

The haven of dandelions, roses, and daises, there would be no better description of Golden Plains than a touch of gold. It’s as if the fabled King Midas flew down, caressing every flower and leaf. The sun, also a bright gold high in the sky, rains down little drops of more gold, sprinkling it’s magic upon everything within this gemstone of a land.

This land is closed. It is no longer habitable.

It was her and Sebastine now, Dolarhyde and his big boney face gone to some other place where he probably wouldn’t have to risk his life for the army. Smart boy. Neither Asthenia nor Sebastine were injured (although both were soaking wet), which was excellent. It meant they could focus on pace, and picking out the clearest path. Perhaps they could even distract the other team a bit, bump them off course and take advantage of their injuries. Theoretically, that was playing dirty, but if Katana encouraged it (or at least hinted at it) then Asthenia would take full advantage of whatever she could.

Velvet Sky, Genvissa, and Klementina were all separated, but Asthenia had been sure to keep Sebastine close. There was no telling what trouble he could get in (you know how kids are- ‘ooh a butterfly! Lets follow it!’), and it was after all a team race. There was no point in Asthenia passing everyone else and finishing first if she had to wait for Sebastine, who had fallen in a hole and sprained his ankle or something stupid. “We should pace ourselves.” She says to him, taking up the leadership at the beginning, as usual, to point out guidelines in case Sebastine had problems seeing the obvious. “Both of us are unharmed, so we should use that to our advantage. Just don’t go falling into any holes. If you need to go slower then let me know. We’ll finish as a team, and I’d rather loose without injury than making it to the finish line with a broken leg.” There was grim amusement in her voice, for breaking a leg meant death if you were a horse (and, yes, they are horses), and if she were dying finishing the race would be the last of her concerns.

They were behind Genvissa and Velvet Sky, who seemed to be going fairly slowly and bickering, as usual. Asthenia almost smiled. “Let them fight each other,” She snorted, “They can tear each other apart.

But as they closed the distance, Asthenia lengthened her stride to draw closer to Genvissa. Planting her hooves in the ground she springs forward, ramming her shoulder into the mare’s stomach. As graceful as she was, she seemed to move just a little strangely, perhaps because of some cracked ribs [kahea is a stalker and read her posts muahaha]. Asthenia didn’t like purposefully harming the mare (enemies as they were now, in the end they were all members of the army, one team), but if taking advantage of her wounds was what she had to do then she would do it.

Asthenia skirts a fair distance away, to keep an eye on the two mares in case they planned to retaliate, tossing her head to eye Sebastine and making sure he was doing alright.
