To all Retirees,
As most of you know, the Motion For Costs Hearing resumed yesterday. There is not much to say about the proceedings, they went as expected. During court, we were unable to influence Judge Stoddard and he was obviously set to levy the $115 thousand dollars in costs against the named 11 members of the Board, past and present. After deliberating the matter during a recess, it was decided to have Mr. Carrington notify the court that we were going to cease and desist from any further actions in this cause. In other words, let the Judge rule as we know he will. This is a sad day when our association can be dragged through the court system without a hope of a chance. So, in the next week or so, the Judge will levy costs against the named 11 "Ringleaders" as we were called by Attorney Gonyea. The next step. A letter will be sent to all members of the RF&PA asking for their financial support to pay the costs to the fund. Someone told me that if each member could contribute $230.00 the entire amount could be raised and paid. I am hopeful that our request for financial assistance will be honored with many, many checks. I am also hopeful that we will get a one year period to pay the costs. If we do then there should be no prolblem with all members sending in their share from the 13th. Check that will be paid no later than June 30th of 2008. This is a sad but true story. ON the brighter side, there will be other battles and the outcome will be a whole lot different. That is all for now, we will be contacting all member via the US Mail in the next week. Thank you for your continued support. It means a lot to all of the Board Members who have worked tirelessly in an effort to right a major wrongt done towards the Retirees as a whole.
