Coach you make a good point. The problem I've seen is players not being able to respond quick enough once the ball is snapped. For example, their rule may be GDL, with someone in the down position prior to the snap. Once the ball is snapped, the player slants away and is no longer their responsibility. How do they recover from this quickly and move to their next area of responsibility? My players (freshman) don't adjust quickly in the game. My belief is that we haven't found a way to drill a game like situation where they have to make split second decisions.... I appreciate any and all feedback on this.
