My views ot the December 31st F&P luncheon.
IP: 72.91.3.165

Thanks to the Holiday season yesterday (Dec.31) we had a very good turnout for the Fire & Police monthly luncheon. There was a lot of interest as to where we stood with our payment to the Pension for the Declarative Action.

Thanks to numerous, “larger than requested” contributions, by our loyal supporters, we’ve been able to pay-off the agreed Sixty Thousand dollars, early than the January 15th deadline. It’s important to know that if you haven’t contributed your three hundred dollars, it’s still needed. Our TF&PRA Board (Treasurer) is keeping detailed records on who has contributed and in the near future an effort will be made in the form of refunds to those that have contributed more than their fair share. It appears that some people are holding off until after the 13th check is paid to contribute their fair share.

The 13th checks? Larry discussed the letters by both Pension Board-member Pat Lynch and the anonymous writer “LJP” in reference to the 2004 13th check.

Pat Lynch, identified the procedure to pay the 2004 check, and those procedures will be followed. The exact amount has not been revealed, the date of payment has not been determined, but the Board has approved payment when all the Legal and Accounting hurdles have been completed. We’ve learned, to be patient, because the payment of the 2004 check has been approved and will be paid, we simply don’t know “how much” or “when”.

LJP on the other-hand would like the retirees to think he’s a member of TF&PRA (He is not) and he praises all of the “Sam’s Club” demands. He provides statistical accounting data as “fact”, without revealing his source; he is a trouble maker of the worst kind, anonymous and misleading.

The TF&PRA has not given up; we are the court recognized association that represents all the “Retired” Tampa Firefighters and Police Officers. We are working hard to protect your pension and increase your benefits at every opportunity. We are not a group of disgruntled retired Tampa Fighters with a disgruntled former pension attorney trying to get even.

The TF&PRA applauds the legitimate efforts by individuals trying to protect our pension from errors and omissions, but we are a team and team efforts are always stronger. We are a second set of eyes looking at the Pension Boards actions, I only hope the Pension Board understands and can appreciate that. When the present Pension Board members retire, I’m confident they’ll understand better.

Best regards,

Jerry (The non-board-member Webmaster)
