During the day, sentries guard the sleeping. When the sky is dark and the moon dances with the stars, this is when the real fun begins. Munashii Gekko's forest is the only haunt where you can find your local misfits all in one place. A land of the forbidden and forgotten, a place that is riddled with dangers of a whole different kind. The wolves here have long misplaced their rightful minds, and now live like creatures damned to prowl and lurk through the night. It's easy to lose yourself here, sanity was sure to fade away and wither; there was never anything normal about this nefarious nest. The silent threats that whispered in the breeze were enough to deter even the largest of demons around. It was not strength nor wit that ensured your survival here with Eric, and challengers would be torn down with a morose lethality - there was nothing left in his cold blue eyes that promised mercy to anyone who dared to overstep their worth. So, would you give up the sun for the moon and stars? Do you have enough vigor to become a well regarded sentry? - Put on a game face to step up and pass the sepia king's test or turn and leave before he catches your scent. You never know who wants to snack on your delicious blood in this forest.

There was peace within Munashii Gekko, peace of being left alone and leaving others well alone. The pack did not suffer the same fate of arrogant challenges and a cascade of potential members. It was for the best as the wolves who still lingered within the territory were not for the excitement of the new wolves. They were happy to be a small pack, and happy to live as a family and not a multitude of wanderers who joined and left within the month.

The birds who sung in the trees were cheerful as well. The territory lay in the north west corner of Blossom Forest, leaving it out of the more trafficked areas. A forgotten area with forgotten wolves. There were few who did wander near and submit at the borders, but most left unwelcome. There were other territories with Alphas who cared to grow their packs into a large and fearful thing. Munashii Gekko let them.

Two wolves lay near the river which flowed along the territory’s boundary, both white in colour and with thickening coats as summer was no longer in full swing. Both had blue eyes as well, a trait earned by genetics, unwilling to let the two’s baby blue eyes turn to the natural golden gazes of the wild wolf. But wild they were. There were differences of course, one wolf a little larger than the other with the extra organ outside the body to make it male. This larger wolf also had black which stained its paws, the colouring ending not far up the leg.

The fully white female stretched out in the grass, lazily idle in the afternoon sun which filtered through the forest canopy. The male was more alert, his gaze crossing sharply over the territory when something caught his attention. A light ‘wuff’ emitted from his mouth as he relaxed a bit more. It had been a long time since any wolves had wandered near the territory, and a long time since he had had to act as superior.

A long time as well since Takara and her daughter as well as the other pack mates had shown up. It was quite possible now that new wolves would come in and try to take the territory for themselves, but so far none had dared. As long as the two siblings stayed within the borders it was quite safe from challenges and packs moving in.

This day however was not to be like the others as the scent of a new male slowly grew stronger on the air. Immediately the male lying down was alert, ears perked forward and listening. The wolf did not show itself though, instead releasing a call which silenced the birds in the trees and brought a stillness to the earth which was not seen much here. The two wolves shared a look, the female giving her tail a flick and relaxing again. She did not care much to communicate with the wolves around these days.

The male however stood, giving his coat a light shake and nearly cracked his jaw with a yawn.

“You’re not going to meet him are you?”

His sister’s voice brought a light grunt, but he stretched before standing tall and looking down at her. “Why not?”

She looked away and lay there, and the male turned away and headed off through the trees, leaving her alone. He did not want to converse with the wolf, and would most likely tell him to bugger off, but whether the wolf left by himself or not, there was a need to at least see the wolf off. It gave him something to do at least, something other than sit around and wait for news of when to move or just grow old and die.

The territory was known fully to him, as he had been across it many times. The borders were heavily cloaked with his scent as well as that of the Alpha female, as he was the Beta wolf within the territory. If Takara was unable to handle a situation, he was the one to force it. Loyalty was not a question to him. So as he came upon the wolf who sat waiting, he became the Beta he was.

With white tail raised behind him and hackles bristling, he stopped a short distance from the waiting male. Head up and teeth bared slightly, he let his cold blue eyes stare into the other’s daring the wolf to try something other than submit some or flee. Nothing was said, just a light growl emitted and the body language clearly saying he had some dominance within the territory. It was up to the other to decide what to do.
