I called the pension office today and spoke with Helen about this $3000 deduction. If you look at your December 2007 statement you will notice that there is a $3000 difference between your income on the statement and the income on your 1099. Helen advised me that this only applies to retirees who have paid at least $3000 in premiums between April 2007 - December 2007. The $3000 is already deducted from your total income and is reflected on your 1099. Check your December 2007 statement against your 1099 and if you are entitled to the deduction it is reflected in the reduction of your income.
