Norwegians in the Civil War

Many of our Norwegian ancestors participated in the American Civil War. Many of them signed up for one regiment in particular, because the officers spoke Norwegian.

The 15th Wisconsin Regiment has been called the Scandinavian Regiment, or sometimes the Norwegian Regiment. Scott Cantwell Meeker has done a fine job of presenting information on the regiment and its soldiers at www.15thwisconsin.net
