There is a "project" in this website regarding the Indian War of 1862 and the Scandinavian settlers caught up in the uprising of the Sioux. See if you can identify any of your ancestors in the "Norseland Project", a project to identify the citizen soldiers of the "Scandinavian Guard of Nicollet County, Minnesota".

My g-g-grandfather Ole Østensen Bøen and his brother Torstein were in the Scandinavian Guard.
