We generally recommend that you file to renew 90 days before expiration. There is no guarantee that you will get your EAD prior to expiration. You may convince your employer to let you take an unpaid leave until your EAD is approved. Currently you are lawful to work. You may also approach your Congressman and ask for assistance in helping you expedite the process. Good luck to you.
