I was birding and saw a black bear on the Alvar Rd. at 9.oo pm. yesterday. I drove slowly up to it but it only moved 15ft. off the road and sat down as we looked at each other for some time. It was totally non-aggressive, even placid, and seemingly quite thin. At one point it moved toward me but then changed its' mind, perhaps looking for food. Will this be a nuisance bear? Hope not. Let's be vigilant and keep one another posted on this great little website. Incidentally, I had a long close look at a black billed cuckoo, among many other species along Wylie Rd. What a GREAT area!
