Cornell Cooperative Extension is hosting a really fun "Water Chestnut Relay Race" for canoes and kayaks as part of the Seneca River Days in Baldwinsville on July 11 at 7 pm. In the race, teams paddle across the river, hand pull water chestnut (a problematic invasive aquatic plant), fill up a bucket with the plant, and then paddle back across the river to tag their teammates on the land. Prizes (and bragging rights of course) are awarded to the top teams, and all participants get a free T-shirt! This is a great event for families, and a fireworks display follows the race. If you would like to sign up or if you want more information, please call Cornell Cooperative Extension at 315-424-9485.
