"We will go back to the packlands. Bandido had returned from Wind Gale as we were departing." She fell silent as she looked from Tumatri and then back to her father. He told her once, when she was much younger, that she had to be strong. Kitana never knew her mother. River claimed that the dragoness had passed shortly after Kitana had hatched. All the Freedom Seeker had ever known was her father and her cousins. She didn't want to lose him, but she accepted it. Kitana looked to the horizon. It was late in the day, but not quite sunset.
She turned from the two and headed down the beach in silence, returning to the pack. River watched her depart in silence before looking back to Tumatri, "I don't know why she never told you. Maybe something about her past, before coming her, prevents it, but I can't say for sure." He turned his head towards the crashing waves, following the smokey grey's line of sight to the horizon with the sky met the water. He'd never seen what was out there, but always imagined why the sun was swallowed by the water at night and then spat up by the land each morning. "We will meet again Tumatri. I'm going to ask if the Goddess will let me linger in spirit. Now, go with Kitana. I will see you again." He smiled genuinely as he layed down facing the coast.
