I regret to inform you that long-time pension office employee Helen Basford passed away yesterday afternoon. Helen was a strong presence at the pension office and she will be dearly missed.
Services are scheduled for Friday, August 1st at JGR Funeral Home, 6718 N. Armenia Avenue, Tampa, Florida 33604. Visitation will be 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. with graveside services following at 2:00 p.m. at Myrtle Hill Cemetery. A reception will be held at the Tampa Fire & Police Pension office following the graveside service.

Helen’s daughter and fellow pension office employee Helena wrote the following message that she asked be passed along:
I am saddened to announce that Helen V. Basford passed away suddenly July 29, 2008. Mom and I have been truly blessed by all of your prayers, both active and retired members. She loved the days she spent as the Benefits Specialist at the Pension Fund Office. She cherished the friendships that she made with all of you over the years. As her daughter, it has always held a special place in my heart that so many of you kept in touch, always checking to see if Mom or I needed anything.
