Some fanfic is good, some is bad, and some is mediocre.
Opinions will vary about which is which.
This is a forum for people to discuss what they didn't like as well as what they liked.
It's my hope that posters will be able to do this with civility.
Those who believe you should keep quiet unless you have something nice to say should probably stay away.

I think I did too, Con, but I think that was because I *expected* more from the first film. It's always dangerous to expect too much in the way of comprehensible and emotionally responsible storymaking from the I-Made-This guys, and over the years I've internalized this fact.
Maybe I skate over the logical lapses because, if you agonize over them too much, you miss the good stuff which usually crystalizes into sweet M&S moments.
People grow into their true selves as they age. GA is a great actress, DD a conscientious and hard-working (and improving) one, CC has a major Hollywood-hack side (with its accompanying pretentiousness) and FS is, God love him, a lackey. Though, to quote Kel, "such a good lackey."
Are fans really believing that these two middle-aged homebodies are going to take on multiple alien races and save the world? Dream on. The X-Files tried many different sorts of stories with a respectable level of success, but we can't expect them to achieve multiple successful closures. Can Scully be a brain surgeon and still deal with shape-shifters? I think not.
I'm trying for mellow but probably sound bitter. Sorry.
