Pension Meeting Verification for this Thursday

I understand that the meeting is at 1:30PM this Thursday. If so, I would like to attend to offer support to those who continue to lookout for our benefits. I commented to someone yesterday, that prior to the meeting, I would meet them at Hutto's corner at 12:15PM and buy them a Cuban sandwich. I don't know why they laughed at my offer, so I said, then make it at Cafe Pepe on JFK, they laughed again. What's going on here? I was afraid to offer Licata's downtown.
