Followup: The pension meeting was cancelled today. Apparently there was a retiree who was given a trespass warning from the pension office earlier in the week. That retiree is not a member of our group. The pension board attorney had some concerns due to the earlier action. The attorney and the pension board chairman felt that it was necessary to cancel the meeting.
Heard a rumor prior to the cancelled meeting that the city is considering a new Health Insurance Provider, or is at least putting it out for bid. I had to go to the Humana PPO this year and I am only paying $14,328.00 a year. I could have saved a whopping sum of money by staying in the HMO and it would have only been $12,462.72. Of course the HMO could bankrupt you if had a $100,000.00 hospital bill and had to pay the percentage.
As stated earlier there was an excellent turnout of our members. They showed up to offer support to our board. I am not a board member and I do not want to be a board member, but I would like to thank all of the board members who put in their own time for a thankless job.
Thanks,
Grady
