Mock Battles

Beside the Challenge grounds is a smaller area designated for mocks. Battle is a way of life in the land of Beqanna, and one must be in top shape to succeed over their foes. This land is a land of practice, where knowledge and skill is gained and wounds are healed immediately after by a watchful battle fairy.

"Is it better to be feared or respected? I say, is it too much to ask for both?"

This is the way he likes to fight. No complications, no trash talking. It was sweet and simple, down to the point. He watches her as he trots towards her, coming slowly to a halt to regard her. A slight nod of his head and a flash of red eyes and they both break into movement. He does not keep still while she paces about him, he is always in constant motion, eyes pinned on her as he awaits her first move. It was an age old habit that had been burned into his skull early on in life, when he had first learned to fight.

He has been watching her, not able to read her mind on what she was planning but her body language had said enough. She is turning her back to him and he turns towards her at an angle, not facing directly behind her but still in that close range. He had always been in movement and was able to turn quick enough as soon as he saw her take the few seconds to turn her backside towards him. He moves into a counter-attack and begins to rise into a half-rear..Not really rising to his full height or putting as much weight on his hind legs, her hoof that had been aiming towards his shoulder had grazed along his lower chest, a good solid pound to his sternum. Enough for him to gasp as if the wind had been shaken from him but not enough for him to not follow through in his attack. Of course he was slightly distracted and his original plan could not be executed as perfectly as he wanted it to. But it could still end quite favorably in his direction.

He lashes out with his front hooves around her croup and to her left back-end side. If she had still been standing there after her kick then he could have perhaps hit the point of her hip from behind which is a bony prominence lying just forward and below the croup. It could make it hard to move that leg as well as she would like to. The same would go if he managed to hit the hip joint itself. He might even be able to hit around the Gluteus muscle which is a superficial muscle that starts at the croup and ends towards the bottom of the hip and attaches itself to the sacrum. That muscle allows forward movement and hind end action and if damaged could restrict her from kicking at him again. If she had darted away he might still be able to catch her around the fibula and perhaps fracture the bone if he pounded it hard enough. Maybe he hit her just hard enough to bruise the long digital extensor muscles (which inserts at the femur and permits the hind leg to flex) or even the soleus muscle if his attack caught her on his way back down from his rear. All these things would make movement difficult in that left back leg or hopefully lame which would be helpful to him in this mock.

As soon as his hooves have touched the earth beneath him, he shies away from her and trots quickly away from her, turning in a wide circle before galloping towards her head-on. Ready to see what she had in store for him next.
