The air is heavy as you make your way through unknown territory, as you pause to sniff the air a drop of rain falls onto your nose. It is soon followed by another and another and soon the rain is pelting down in sheets, soaking you to the bone. The clouds are an angry purple and the menacing drumming of thunder rolls over the sky. Squinting your eyes against the blinding water you find yourself at the edge of a large, dark pine forest. You are too desperate for shelter to notice the scents that mark the border and plunge in, and nearly into the chilly stream that runs through the territory. You veer away and as you are shaking the water out of your fur you notice a large pair of icy blue shards gazing at you. The storm has passed now and beams of sunlight filter through the thick canopy of pines, illuminating a massive male wolf not three feet away from where you stand.

His pelt looks like a bad patchwork job of black and white and beneath them you see large, hard bands of steely muscle and you know this is a warrior for his torso is marred with many battle scars. His banner curls over his back and his lips are drawn, exposing sharp ivory daggers. When he speaks his voice is deep and dominant, like the thunder you so recently heard.

"Wolf, you have found yourself in the terra of the Andere Seite Pack. I am Eclipse, king of this land."

It is only then that you notice another pair of lanterns gleaming in the penumbra and a dark-pelted fae slinks out into the clearing to stand next to the king, her own banner waves and her green and blue eyes bore into you. She is the same size as most males and a crisscrossing pattern of scars show that she too can take care of herself. Her voice is cold and has a snake-like sound to it yet you can see they are both fair rulers.

"And I am Nephthys, queen of Andere. We don’t care much for strangers so you must make your choice, Submit to us now or flee our lands and never return. If you fail to do either you will have little time left to regret it."

The formidable pair pierces you with their gaze and you feel as if all your secrets spill out before them. You are left with a decision now. Will you submit and take refuge in this dark forest or will you flee and never know what secrets these trees hide? Make haste, you can see that the pair grow tired of waiting.

Unlike the peaceful night Styx was so far having, Pocahontas’s had been anything but quiet. Damn it, if pups were not so annoying. Not really pups in general … hell, Pocahontas really did not mind them. Just … why would a family have an outing in the middle of the night? And why did it have to be at the southern end of the lake? That only made her opinion that teens should not be parents even firmer. Leisure Lake was so far her favorite place in all of Blossom Forest. It was gorgeous during the day, even with the mobs of wolves lining the shores. And at night? It was even more glorious. The shimmering surface seemed like glass, and it mirrored the night sky. That was probably her favorite sight in the world … the lake at night. Except when she used to look so deep into his icy eyes. She would lose her breath sometimes … but no. That was so long ago; she needed to stop thinking of it.

But anyhow, she was woken up this night by a couple of pups that decided she was something to climb on, and use to hide behind. Grumbling, she rose to find the teenage parents having their own little flirt session some thirty yards away. Well, there was honestly no reason in going back to sleep … at least not there. So, she picked up one suddenly terrified pup … hid it behind a nearby bush and told it to remain silent until its parents came. With the second scared shitless pup, the large female carried it to the parents, who were not very happy to be interrupted. Dropping the youngster at their paws, she growled a warning that if they ’wanted no harm to come to their remaining offspring, they would start acting like parents instead of immature little fuckers.’ Her words in an exact quote, in fact. Her icy gaze then followed the frantic couple as they, panic stricken, searched for their other pup. She did not remain for the whole show, though, as she grew bored and even more irritated.

Her thick, northern pelt was well suited for the gradual drop of temperature that had already begun for the coming of winter. By a long shot, she loved the winter season more than any other. Besides the fact that she nearly was constantly hiding away in the shade during summer, there was something about snow that attracted the wolf. Her form -as tall and built as the average male’s- stepped once more into the terra that she had spent little time in since joining. Why? Well, it might have had something to do with Eclipse and her being past lovers. Just maybe. And the fact, ever since being threatened and run out of her birth pack, she had little *zest* to remain in a pack for too long.

The wind ran its combing fingers through her coat, which was a bad patch job of white and a light russet color. Much like Eclipse’s, in fact, except his was a bad patch job of white and black. With this wind, came a scent that was vaguely familiar to the femme. The challenger, if she was not mistaken, that had come to live here after his defeat. And from the looks of Nephthys and himself, it had been one hell of a fight before the fall. With a slight mental shrug, she began that way. It was not as if she was going back to sleep, so why be alone? It was much quieter in the terra, but not perfectly still. Her foot steps made light rustling noises on the ground, as her paws lightly brushed against dead leaves, and twigs and what have you. If she really wanted, even a wolf of her mass could move with a death like silence … but tonight, the femme simply did not care to.

He was looking up, she noticed as she crept into the foliage that was behind him. She was downwind, and her steps had fallen near silent as she slowed to a halt. He did not seem angry, or upset. He just seemed … a little lost, but for the most part, lonely. Maybe … she was not exactly a mind reader, as many wolves in Blossom Forest liked to think they were. Her tail flicked casually one way, and then her ivory paws began the short distance to close the space between them. Her approach was not perfectly silent, and unless he blamed the subtle rustling on the light breeze that was blowing, then he would at least know someone was coming.

Styx, correct?

After she was a couple feet from the nearly invisible male. Of course he was not literally invisible, but the fact it was in the dead of night, and he was black … well, you get where this is going? She sat on her haunches beside him … sort of at a forty-five so she could face both him, and out to the front. She watched him, her expression blank. And that was a specialty of the northern breed of lupine … to mask emotions perfectly. She would appear to be sitting still, except the steady rise and fall of her chest. Also, the tip of her tail regularly flicked one way or another, almost like a cat would … and what a human would call a ‘nervous habit’ , like always having to chew on something or fidget your fingers. She sighed in a content manner, looking up to the stars, smiling slightly, and then erasing the expression as her icy blues focused on him once more.
