Dear Shelby, I did not get to know you
while I lived in glenalum,as the saying goes we were "ships passing in the night"
I was touched by your piece that you wrote
and wanted to thank you for your kindness in putting it on the net. I went to 8th
grade in the old original brick bldg on the hill 1934-42. Shayde Chapman was my favorite male teacher and Anne Dunman my
favorite female teacher. She came to our classroom every Fri afternoon to give us music lessons. She told us about
"The william Tell Overture, and we got to sing. After we sang the songs she wanted us to learn,we got to hold up our hand and say,Let's sing, Red Sails in the Sunset" or My Grandfather's Clock". I have many fond memories of that singing session each fri afternoon.
It was the last class of the day and we were all happy bout lookin' toward a week-end of fun,and since we had learned about the WM.Tell overture,This made listening to the Lone Ranger a lot
more meaningful. Thank You again and Kind Regards. Robert Boyd
