I kind of knew that, but was not 100% sure, thank you for the information. However, just as you and all of us are thinking, "O'kay, I did not pay SS during my career at TPD." However, we did pay SS for our off duty work and most of us paid or are paying SS taxes on our second career after retirement. I believe that there must be something in the structure of our pension that let's this happen. Perhaps our pension board should find out what is different about our pension that does not allow our members to earn a SS pension no matter how much we contribute from our second career. They probably already know why and they just haven't taken any steps to correct the situation. It kind of s@&ks that every SO deputy not only earns a pension which is equally as fruiful as ours and at no cost and then gets to draw a full SS pension when they become eligible. Our BAD.
