We will be lending out our broomball facility, the Massena Arena, to the defending Division 1 New York State High School hockey champion Massena Red Raiders. The locals will be hosting Mamaroneck in a state quarter final game at 7:00 pm on Saturday evening.
The schedule is a little wierd due to the fact that we had to work with the oddball number of seven.
The main factors in setting up the pools was to keep the two pre tourny favorites in opposite pools, that being the Oswego
Outlaws and the Rouse's Point Roadrunners.
Games will consist of two halves; one 25 minute running time, and one 15 minute stop time. We had to squeeze 7 games into 6 hrs of ice time on Saturday from 11:30 am until 5:30 pm. For that reason games
played during this time period will feature a mercy rule. A lead of 4 or more goals inside the 8 minute mark of
the second half will end the contest. Remember this rule applies only to the time frame mentioned, we have a full
hour of ice for all the other games.
Minor penalties are 2:00
NO FIGHTING. Fight and you are done for the tournament.
The Kip Orosz rule will be used. If you leave your feet and you take down the ball handler
you will be issued a minor penalty, doesn't matter if you get the ball first ! If you would like
to see an example of this just watch Kip play for a few minutes, # 7 on the Open Net team.
Red line in and out for offside.
Red line is used for icing. Automatic, no need for defenders to touch the ball.
High stick in contact with the ball is not a penalty, just a whislte if your team contols the ball.
No calling time out.
Must pay Nez the entry money before going on the ice for your first game.
No overtime in pool play. The two semi finals and the championship will have sudden death ot as follows.
One extra period of 5 minutes running time played with 5 + goalies. Then 4 on 4 , no goalies, until someone
scores. Must be inside the offensive zone to score.
Pool tie breakers. Head to head. Goals against. Goal differential. Goals scored. Coin toss.
