The entire 67-71 Thunderbird run are nice cars but parts are tough to locate - trim - body - etc. Engine is a solid 429 in the 71 backed by the C-6 transmission. 429's are common to require valve seals not a huge job but still a job. C-6 transmission should have fluid and filter changed every 60,000 miles and about one of the best trannys for durability going as long as they are properly serviced. One thing to watch on any 67-71 is the frame especially that area over the rear axle arches. You should also look at the rear inner fender wells for holes or rust repair. Rear axle is a another great component needing very little attention except making sure it has fluid and to look for leaks in the front of the pinion seal and at each wheel for axle seals in case the car has been sitting much.
