The Valley
Between the Meadow and the Field is the third of Beqanna’s Common Grounds. A rolling valley is bisected by a broad and shallow river. The grass is thick and lush, and this is a good place for a stallion to live with his family if he does not yet have a herd land.

She paws the air as the whirl of dust and sand brings her here. Already there are individuals here, though few. She glances self-consciously and anxiously behind her, her creamy tail flicking across her hindquarters as if by some miracle she could ward away these evils. She sees relative peace here, though tensions run high, but her mind is still at the Falls, wondering who is safe and who is dead, as her pessimism commands. Alarmed by the transport (for she had never before experienced any type of magic) she copes by running to Vivette, Nekana and Charger as they are gathered, speaking calmly. She comes to a halt, her steel-covered hooves clicking on patches of rough sand and rock, and she chuckles to herself, remembering the screeching sounds of human cars when their riders were too eager. She looks with wide-eyed anxiety at the trio, and can do nothing but simply stand among them, wrought mute by her fears.
She listens without input to their speech, feeling helpless, worrying for her child. She hoped the stress of the situation wouldn’t hinder the filly that kicked in her belly, and she looked again at her sides, paranoia beginning to nip at her like flies. Her tail whipped out behind her, flicking her haunches, and she continued to subtly paw at the earth, her pale eyes wide. Thoughts chased each other around her head, but none dominated far enough for her to deduct or yet speak. So she simply stood, a shaking white flag blown by invisible winds.
