K9 Teeth Jacketing?

Has anyone had their dogs' canine teeth "jacketed"? I saw this for the first time a few years back on a FRIII Beauceron in France. It's a system to protect the teeth to prevent wearing and breakage. I'm getting my malinois in France done for around 300 Euros a piece for the jackets, which is around $420US each. Has anyone had their dog's teeth jacketed by a US dentist and was it worth it and what were the costs? I think it would help with dogs that try to bite their kennels/crates and carry things constantly that causes the back of the teeth to wear as well. Jackets would be less expensive than the root canal from a broken tooth..
