The air is heavy as you make your way through unknown territory, as you pause to sniff the air a drop of rain falls onto your nose. It is soon followed by another and another and soon the rain is pelting down in sheets, soaking you to the bone. The clouds are an angry purple and the menacing drumming of thunder rolls over the sky. Squinting your eyes against the blinding water you find yourself at the edge of a large, dark pine forest. You are too desperate for shelter to notice the scents that mark the border and plunge in, and nearly into the chilly stream that runs through the territory. You veer away and as you are shaking the water out of your fur you notice a large pair of icy blue shards gazing at you. The storm has passed now and beams of sunlight filter through the thick canopy of pines, illuminating a massive male wolf not three feet away from where you stand.

His pelt looks like a bad patchwork job of black and white and beneath them you see large, hard bands of steely muscle and you know this is a warrior for his torso is marred with many battle scars. His banner curls over his back and his lips are drawn, exposing sharp ivory daggers. When he speaks his voice is deep and dominant, like the thunder you so recently heard.

"Wolf, you have found yourself in the terra of the Andere Seite Pack. I am Eclipse, king of this land."

It is only then that you notice another pair of lanterns gleaming in the penumbra and a dark-pelted fae slinks out into the clearing to stand next to the king, her own banner waves and her green and blue eyes bore into you. She is the same size as most males and a crisscrossing pattern of scars show that she too can take care of herself. Her voice is cold and has a snake-like sound to it yet you can see they are both fair rulers.

"And I am Nephthys, queen of Andere. We don’t care much for strangers so you must make your choice, Submit to us now or flee our lands and never return. If you fail to do either you will have little time left to regret it."

The formidable pair pierces you with their gaze and you feel as if all your secrets spill out before them. You are left with a decision now. Will you submit and take refuge in this dark forest or will you flee and never know what secrets these trees hide? Make haste, you can see that the pair grow tired of waiting.

His rhythmic pace soon calmed him, after finding a few strange scents at the border; he had furiously searched for anything inside the pack. Luckily for whatever had been playing chicken with his border hadn’t been stupid enough to continue their minor intrusion. He sighed and picked up his pace, trotting along the border in boredom. He had given Firestorm a meal big enough for her whole family and now that that was taken care of- at least for the moment- he continued on, making sure the border was clear. It seemed the newcomers had given him a break. Plague stopped at large oak, pausing to water it on three legs and then defiantly claw slashes deep into the bark.

His scent was everywhere and so was Kimani’s. After the Lynx attack, he persuaded himself that scenting the borders more often than needed would be the first deterrent, his constant patrolling, especially during nighttimes, was vigilant and unprovoked though, it seemed he had killed the resident Lynx. The thought didn’t make him smile though; he knew soon enough one would move into its cold den and make it comfortable. Plague quivered, thinking of the number of pups inside the pack, the number of easy targets that any Lynx would salivate over. It sickened him to t5hink of the consequences and a sudden frustration bubbled up in him, causing him to over claw the bark and rip off branches that got in the way.

Plague shook his head, trying to forget the whole incident. He had cleaned his own wounds, frequently washing them while submerging his back in water, it was the only way a lone wolf could heal wounds in such a place on his back without the help of another. It was strange that Plague hadn’t asked another member to help hi, it wasn’t a pride issue, it was just…well, and he preferred his Kimani. It was stupid really and it did come back to bite him in the ass, in the rush of running the pack, Kimmy seemed to have slipped away again. He didn’t mind when she retreated to some faraway or close place and he knew it wasn’t a good idea to look for her at these times, lest he mightfind her.

Plague stopped and turned on the spot, trotting intensely inland for several hundred paces and then coming to a graceful halt. He looked around him and scented the air; honestly, he was hoping to come across Nephthys, not to find Kimmy, but to talk to her. He hadn’t really even had a conversation with her. Plague knew of her…condition, but he wasn’t put off, he sell a leg to get the fae to talk to her. He thought about calling her, but wondered if she’d actually show up, even if it was an order. He shook his head again and let out a soft howl, it wouldn’t travel more than a couple of miles, but he could scent her close, but didn’t want to intrude on anything. He knew he had to play his cards carefully with this fae. After all, she almost took his head off last time. He wasn’t exactly afraid of the wolfess, but he did have a point where he wouldn’t tolerate her any longer. Still, that point was pretty high, basically, she’d have to have him on the ropes and go for his throat before he even fought back offensively. He felt like lying down and whining for his love, but refused to.

The ebony king finished his song, thinking it had gone long enough, it called only the fae he wanted, it repelled everyone else.
