The Valley
Between the Meadow and the Field is the third of Beqanna’s Common Grounds. A rolling valley is bisected by a broad and shallow river. The grass is thick and lush, and this is a good place for a stallion to live with his family if he does not yet have a herd land.

Darker autumn days are coming, and cold winter months. Then, and then the newborns will be born and if he has an older pair to sheperd them, the grin just can’t be surpressed and the dun swings his golden head towards the petite boy, The world needs changing boy. What is your answer, do you choose life, or death? It had surprised him to learn of this ones age, two and not growing, he almost cursed himself for picking up a dwarf before the second idea comes to him. This one would make a perfect stealth attacker.
He barely waits for the childs answer, his Arabian frame turning to fully face him, Now you have a task, I need more foals, any age, no older than you are now though, and you have a unique talent, seeming innocent. I don’t care if you want to be angry and rebellious. You will play the part of a young foal, maybe a few months, you’ll just about get away with it. His features are once more solidly blank, the army commander robe having been pulled on in the blink of an eye. And yet, he was in an odd way giving the colt praise for being little, giving him useful tasks that only his size could accomplish.
The wind that blows through is harsh, but he does not shiver, wanting to boy to learn about hardship. But first, I have a task for you, go to the meadow, or the field, or even the adoption den. And you find a mare and bring her here, be it by charm, or by tricking her into thinking your hurt or defenceless, I don’t care. And I will be there if you try to run away.
He turns then, dark eyes sweeping over the borders as he seeks out Cava, his first recruit, for she has been gone a long time.
