Thanks for the clarification rich. I am still marriied to the same woman I was married to most of my carrer. I guess my next question is why were we no given the choice to select a "Joint Annuitant" it seems to me that it would be cost nuetral to the pension. I would think the actuary figures in the expected life span of retirees. If the retiree dies well before their expected life span why not continue paying the benefit to their spouse. I think its great that the pension board is trying to take care of spouses who marry after retirement but I think we owe it more to spouses who were there during all those years of the retirees service supporting him and raising their children.
