She kept on stroking his shoulder, as much to keep him from trying to sit up again as it was to instill some security in him that she was there and wasn't letting anyone come between him and his family. "The hospital is absorbing the cost, and I don't want you fretting about that anyway. Money is never an issue when it comes to your welbeing." Before anything else, she wanted to assure him of this, and keep him from worry about any burden it was to them. "Please trust me when I tell you, we aren't letting the state take you. We've already made arrangements; you'll be here for only a short time until your strength returns, and you'll be going home with us straight after that. The nurses, the state... none of them are going to change that." She didn't tell him that by 'short' she meant 'three days' - he was already panicked as he was.
(i guess so, lol. she does that with apples, bags of bread, and any marginally squishy thing she can sink her teeth into and carry. once she had a bag of marshmallows scattered all over the room, hehe)
