Johann didn't ask any questions of Lanny when the young man came out to fetch Raine; he gave the co-lead a look of questioning, but he seemed to know better than to let it go any further than that. Instead, he carefully and gently shifted the child into her father's arms and stepped back, again parking himself along the wall, indicating that he pretty well knew he wasn't welcome in the room just now. If Cassidy had sent for him, Lanny would have said that. So whether he liked it or not, Johann knew he had to wait out here for now - they couldn't risk upsetting her any more than she had been already today. And by the time Lanny returned to the room, Cassidy had returned to her bed and was laying back against the upright head of it, her face dry and eyes dry, even if the skin was a little pale and blotchy in places - she was calm again. She reached up to take Raine from him, cuddling the infant against her chest and whispering, "Hey, little one... ready for breakfast?"
