"Liar." She didn't even hesitate; before ever Lanny finished speaking the words, she knew that they were a lie, meant to pacify her and make her believe that he wasn't upset with her. Raine quieted a little under her father's touch, though she still continued to wriggle every now and again to indicate that she knew something was wrong, even though he was still showering her with affection. Similarly, Cassidy's words were soft and quiet, even though she was internalizing so many things right now. "If you're going to hate me for it Lanny, then do it honestly. Give me a good smack and let the gang have its way... just promise you'll look after Raine for me." Her voice was hard - she expected anger from him, so she responded with cold, unfeeling harshness. She looked at him then, not meeting his gaze, but her eyes aflame with defiance. "You can do what you like, but don't you dare lie to me."
