The air is heavy as you make your way through unknown territory, as you pause to sniff the air a drop of rain falls onto your nose. It is soon followed by another and another and soon the rain is pelting down in sheets, soaking you to the bone. The clouds are an angry purple and the menacing drumming of thunder rolls over the sky. Squinting your eyes against the blinding water you find yourself at the edge of a large, dark pine forest. You are too desperate for shelter to notice the scents that mark the border and plunge in, and nearly into the chilly stream that runs through the territory. You veer away and as you are shaking the water out of your fur you notice a large pair of icy blue shards gazing at you. The storm has passed now and beams of sunlight filter through the thick canopy of pines, illuminating a massive male wolf not three feet away from where you stand.

His pelt looks like a bad patchwork job of black and white and beneath them you see large, hard bands of steely muscle and you know this is a warrior for his torso is marred with many battle scars. His banner curls over his back and his lips are drawn, exposing sharp ivory daggers. When he speaks his voice is deep and dominant, like the thunder you so recently heard.

"Wolf, you have found yourself in the terra of the Andere Seite Pack. I am Eclipse, king of this land."

It is only then that you notice another pair of lanterns gleaming in the penumbra and a dark-pelted fae slinks out into the clearing to stand next to the king, her own banner waves and her green and blue eyes bore into you. She is the same size as most males and a crisscrossing pattern of scars show that she too can take care of herself. Her voice is cold and has a snake-like sound to it yet you can see they are both fair rulers.

"And I am Nephthys, queen of Andere. We don’t care much for strangers so you must make your choice, Submit to us now or flee our lands and never return. If you fail to do either you will have little time left to regret it."

The formidable pair pierces you with their gaze and you feel as if all your secrets spill out before them. You are left with a decision now. Will you submit and take refuge in this dark forest or will you flee and never know what secrets these trees hide? Make haste, you can see that the pair grow tired of waiting.

Plague sat quietly as Beatrice spoke up, she seemed awfully nervous and fidgety. It was if she expected him to suddenly lash out at her, lunge at her and pin her down and make her submit to him even though she was already a member of his pack. Plague understood why, she’d obviously already been in a pack and it obviously had a dominating alpha who liked to have a selection of faes to pick and choose from. Plague didn’t much notice the zero eye contact as most pack members abided by the law that continued eye contact meant disrespect, even a challenge. Plague was okay with eye contact from his members, he knew when someone simply wanted to look him in the eye for a challenge, but still, less is more in his own words. She spoke formally, but he didn’t stop her. Even if what a wolf was saying bothered him in the slightest, he let them finish, not one to interrupt unless it was dire. She spoke; he listened, enjoying having a chat with one of the pack members. Her voice was quiet and shy-sounding, so Plague spoke quietly also, but he didn’t exactly whisper.

Please Beatrice, call me Plague…as to open ranks, well, just to clarify, that a wolf cannot ask for a rank, but as you asked about what ranks were open, I can only but answer your question with joy. There are, at present, no wolves ranked in the gamma and Elipsion ranks and there are no iota females….

Plague paused, she wanted to know why he had savagely killed Kenji, and she deserved the answer both as a pack member and the fact that she had dragged his body to the borders. She also enquired about how the ranking worked; Plague was all too delighted to discuss something, glad she was interested in the way the pack ranking worked. He genuinely loved conversation with members of the pack. He’d already grown quite fond of Firestorm, Beowulf and Esper and Nephthys...well, they’d come to an agreement so far, which was seen as productive in Plague’s eyes.

Ah...Kenji. I’m glad you asked actually, I was going to explain it to everyone at the next pack meeting after discussing it with Kimani; you all have a right to know. Kenji challenged me for alphaship, which I took as straight betrayal to me after accepting me as your new alpha. I don’t think he ever did accept me in that respect as he wasn’t seen about the pack much afterwards. So there you have it, Kenji is no longer with us due him betraying me, betraying all of us- I do not accept betrayal well. As to pack ranking, it simply goes from alpha to beta, then gamma, Elipsion, delta, Zeta and finally iota then Omega. Does that answer your question?

Plague waited for her response and then added something shortly after she’d spoken.

I also want you to know that you can come to me if you ever feel need, okay?

He smiled, his ivories exposing in the slightest, but in a slightly goofy way. Although formality had its uses, he preferred a much more clam, casual interaction between pack members and himself. He never thought of himself above them, as he understood an alpha needed the pack as much as the pack needed an alpha to lead it. Without one, the other would fail ultimately.
