2010 Volunteer Naturalist Recruitment
City of Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks
City of Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks Department is now recruiting Volunteer Naturalists to lead interpretive nature hikes for children. This is an excellent opportunity to share your love of nature with youngsters.
We are looking for people who have experience working with children. You will help students connect with the land and explore their role as stewards of wild places. We provide over 50 hours of core training plus several required advanced trainings focused on interpretive techniques, local ecosystems, flora & fauna, geology, history, and safety issues. In return Volunteer Naturalists make a minimum commitment to develop and lead 7 hikes within the first year. The 1.5 to 2 hour hikes take place during the week, during working hours.
Volunteer Naturalist training takes place every Tuesday from Feb 16th through April 13th (except March 23rd) from 9:00 am-3:30 pm. Fill out an application on our website at www.bouldercolorado.gov/osmpvolunteers, or call (720) 564-2058 for more information. You’ll find this to be a fun community of like-minded people who care about the environment and are inspired to work to protect it.
