I knew Capt. Roy and worked with him. He was a special guy, never got upset, never pushed his rank around. He was always smiling and was never too busy to talk with you. Roy was a big man but he had a kind and forgiving heart. I haven't seen him in years but I expect that he was still the same, as far as he could be. I understand that he was in a nursing home, he had alzheimers. We lost a one-of-a-kind police officer. I am glad to say I knew him and considered him a friend. I know his family is saddened by his passing. Knowing how alzheimers affects a person, I can only think he is in a better place. I hope to one day see Roy again, his big smile and his calm demeanor. God bless his family and loved ones, I know they miiss Roy, so do I.
