My ffmfather was Gulbrand Nielsen Dahlen from Gran. He emigrated in 1854, with father Niels Hansen, & newlywed wife Marthe Østendtr (Kios). G & M settled in Spring Grove MN. I can't find them in the 1860 Census. He is listed as Gilbert Nelson in the 1870 Census. He is Gilbert N. Mirah in 1880 Census. Does anybody know why the family took the Myrah surname? (There is a Myre farm in Gran, but I can't find any connection with them to it.)
