The best BT songs (again)
IP: 67.172.250.17

When I clicked through the pictures from the Lavine/Moore grunge book, I couldn't help but realize how little of that era's music I listen to now. Nirvana has held up well, so has PJ's Ten, but shockingly little else. I listen to BT more than all other "grunge" acts combined.

The last time I was in Northampton, I asked Thurston and Kim why BT never got the payday that lesser bands of the era cashed in on. Kim didn't say anything, but Thurston told me that Live's first album killed BT's commercial prospects. He seemed to think that Live's release captured the commercially important audience and steered it in a different direction. I have to say there's something to that theory.

My own theory is that BT should have focused more on Chris' material. He's really the brains behind the operation. Bill's songs are catchy, but his lyrics don't match the strength of the tunes. I've brought up "make that house your home" and "wherefore art thou Johnny Carson?" before, and now I'll add "a man puts up a detour sign" as the line that ruined BT's great epic, Sunday Night. Sorry, that's just my two cents.
