Carden Alvar Nature Board by Bob BowlesSwans

Yesterday in the creek just south of Victoria Road there were at least 3 swans swimming and feeding with a bunch of Canada Geese. While I had a hard time seeing them clearly, at least one had a big yellow patch which I assume was an ID number -- so, presumably Trumpeter Swans. The best place to see them yesterday was from the dam that's reached through an unplowed parking lot on the west side of the road (CKL 35) just south of the village. There's lots of open water between the dam, which creates Mitchell Lake, and the beaver dam at the Museum of Temporary Art.
