Hi Cyndy, I haven't forgotten you. Still trying to sort out the connections.
I am 100% convinced that your William originated with the Pocklington Blanshards, not least because of that unusual name of Gawtry being passed along.
Have a look at this tree of the Blanshards of Pocklington.

You will see that there is an unaccounted for John Blanshard, that could well be the father of your William. I have not been able to find his marriage yet though.
Interestingly, you will see that I have made a note that I believe that George and Jane went to Market Weighton, as a George and Jane arrive there (but were not married there) and he was a tanner (tanner/fellmonger/glover/skinner/butcher are the trades of the Pocklington Blanshards). I also see that in the 1841 census for Market Weighton there is a John Blanshard, 50, glover living alone, and another, also aged 50, a shoemaker.
That is all I have at present, but I will keep digging.
