a stranger mare finally shows herself to the others, admits to hanging back, watching from behind a mass of black and white forelock, dancing on the wind, her hide sticky with sweat, matting her black spits of color she waits to be judged and admitted if possible by the leads. she stands defiant to herself, politly standing her ground, no direct eye contact, no strong stares ...she flicks at early gnats..waiting..always waiting
