During the day, sentries guard the sleeping. When the sky is dark and the moon dances with the stars, this is when the real fun begins. Munashii Gekko's forest is the only haunt where you can find your local misfits all in one place. A land of the forbidden and forgotten, a place that is riddled with dangers of a whole different kind. The wolves here have long misplaced their rightful minds, and now live like creatures damned to prowl and lurk through the night. It's easy to lose yourself here, sanity was sure to fade away and wither; there was never anything normal about this nefarious nest. The silent threats that whispered in the breeze were enough to deter even the largest of demons around. It was not strength nor wit that ensured your survival here with Eric, and challengers would be torn down with a morose lethality - there was nothing left in his cold blue eyes that promised mercy to anyone who dared to overstep their worth. So, would you give up the sun for the moon and stars? Do you have enough vigor to become a well regarded sentry? - Put on a game face to step up and pass the sepia king's test or turn and leave before he catches your scent. You never know who wants to snack on your delicious blood in this forest.

Kong listened as the stud stuttered out his name and purpose. It was easy and understandable enough; both the name and purpose, that is. When the boy said his name was Leaf, an amusing thought crossed the ebon hunter's mind, wondering if Leaf had a brother named Branch or a sister named Willow. He held in the smirk to go with it, though, not wanting the other to know he was finding amusement with his name. Kong wasn't known to be a mean fellow, after all. He was always kind and gentlemanly. He was sweet natured and laid back. He was all of these things, but he could never tell himself if they were real or just a face for the monster that he really was. Poor Kong, more messed up than everyone else takes him for. He nodded his pate in acknowledgment. "Well then, welcome Leaf. Alas, there was a time when I could say those words and you would be welcome to cross the borders and be a part of the pack, but one of the alphas has returned and so his authority is back in place and I am but a lowly omega. Therefore, I can give you a probationary stay, where you may cross the border but stay within eye sight of it so he can make the final decision. His name is Angel, by the way."

Kong waited to see if his words had sunk in, ready to keep the brujo company till such time as the challenge ended and Angel could return to his pack finally. Kong didn't know if he was excited to see the ivory stud, but it was definitely better to have him back to accept or deny new wolves than to keep Kong on as his temporary back up. Not that he minded the job, but it did get tiresome at times and he was ready for a little break. Then came more down time and maybe even a solo hunt, that is, if Angel wasn't going to plan a pack hunt any time soon. He almost wished he would, so he could take out his restless energy on something big and strong rather than just a rodent creature that barely took a spurt. He wanted to just be an animal again, wild and free, something to be feared by herbivores everywhere, great and small. Kong missed that part of himself, just not the torture and death part of himself. Or at least, that's what he told himself.
