The earth was happy this day.
Sasha could feel it, purring like a great cat with the excitement of something glorious – something happening that the Valkyrie jungle had nothing to do with. Unless you were blind and deaf you would’ve seen the creatures of Hoof Prince make an exodus, heading towards the North in response to the birth of the earth god’s son. Oh yes, yet another demigod would run rampart through the hills and forests of our most beloved Hoof Prince; yet another male heir to the deity throne. This knowledge, of course, made Sasha long for the South and for her children; she had left the Isles of Despair for her true home and left Tibierus and Taline in the hands of their father and their father’s family. It was better for them this way. She told Taline she would always be welcomed in the jungle, and could join if she wished. She didn’t want her daughter to have the predisposition of hating the Rajputs, and not knowing the history between the Rajputs and Valkyries. She didn’t want her daughter to have her life chosen for her, the way Sasha’s life had been. She wanted Taline to live a life of freedom, to live without much of any care at all.
Her thoughts were shattered, her dark brown eyes flying open at the sound of movement. Normally, it wouldn’t have caught her by surprise but the jungle had been pretty much emptied of its inhabitants. Lightning bolts that crashed soundlessly through the sky told her Kitty’s colorless form was still about the jungle but she could find no familiar scents here. So, to have a new presence in the jungle was unnerving to Sasha. Had someone finally discovered the long forgotten jungle? Or were they here to invade the long abandoned queendom? In truth, Sasha had been waiting for something in the form of invasion or raid to happen; how could a bigger, stronger kingdom not take up such an opportunity? Then again, the Rajputs weren’t exactly the strongest nation at the moment either.
Shadows and leaves swirled together as the spotted mare moved with purpose under the protective cover of the large leaves of the ancient jungle leaves. Deep in the heart of the queendom, a colorful jungle bird called out – caught off guard by the sudden jump of the shadows and the sound of movement. Coming up behind the large earth-toned female, Sasha caught the words that fell so candidly from her mouth. Those delicate shadows she controlled so mindlessly moved forward like fingertips grasping at the feet of the newest member of the sisterhood.
”You stand at the threshold of our home. Be wary of what lies within the borders.”
Sasha called out, an amused expression riding across her face. In truth, she missed this; the new faces, training new sisters – water the freshly planted seeds of power. Oh yes, Sasha was defiantly home.
“Welcome to the jungle.”
